Whom to Include and Exclude
Ideally, concentrate each shot on depicting a particular classmate (or two) “modeling” the costume, and minimize depicting extraneous people. Very-small-group shots (up to four people) are also potentially acceptable, as discussed below.
Whom to include: Individual images
For a costume having both male & female variants:
Preferably show both variants in the same shot (Examples: 2006 10th Reunion; 2009 5th reunion; 2009 10th Reunion)
But it's also OK to submit two separate shots — one male, one female
For a Unisex costume:
Preferably show one male AND one female “model” in the shot (Examples 1988 15th Reunion; 1989 30th Reunion; 2011 5th Reunion)
But it's also OK to show a single “model” (either gender OK) (Example: 1994 20th Reunion)
For a pre-1970 (all male) costume:
Preferably show just one “model” (Examples: 1957 10th Reunion; 1960 10th Reunion; 1962 5th Reunion)
Whom to include: Small group images
Small-group shots (4 people MAX) are potentially OK if:
Cropping the shot down to one or two folks would make the shot extremely narrow
Or if the grouping appreciably increases the outfit’s visual impact (Examples: 1963 45th Reunion; 1995 20th Reunion; 2006 5th Reunion)
No more than four people in the shot:
More would tend to push “models” farther away from the camera, losing outfit details
All 3 or 4 “models” should be in full costume, including any accessories (belts, leis, etc.)
Whom to exclude:
Show as few other people as possible in the shot:
Preferably none besides the “model(s)” (Example: 2002 10th Reunion; 2003 15th Reunion)
If any others, have them located as far in the background as possible (Examples: 2009 5th reunion; 2009 10th Reunion)
Nobody out-of-costume located near the “model(s)”
Nobody wearing any other class’s costume near the “model(s)”
Nobody wearing any class Reunion or BeerJacket (already shown in the Reunion and Beer Jacket Collection)
No kids in the shot (for privacy reasons)
No official class photos, nor any other crowd images (they lose too much detail)
