Image Technical Criteria
Images submitted to the museum should meet the following criteria:
Must be in focus.
Should be properly exposed, but some correction for under or over exposure can be done by the curators.
Color is preferred but B&W images are acceptable if contrast is good (that is, the picture is crisp and details stand out, versus looking like it was shot through fog)
Should be a "stand alone" image file in a standard format, such as .jpeg, .tiff, .png, and .bmp. Images that are embedded in Word, Powerpoint, PDF, or other document files will be considered only if the embedded images are of high quality and no stand alone image file is available.
The Museum's standard image resolution is 1200 by 1800 pixels. Images with this level of resolution or more are welcome. We can use images of lower resolution, but "thumbnails" on the order of 100x200 pixels will not be accepted as they will display poorly. The general rule is to send the highest resolution image available.
Images are mostly produced as rectangles, either in "portrait" or in "landscape" orientation. Since we are displaying individuals wearing costumes, images will typically be displayed in a "portrait" orientation. The curators can alter orientation as needed, as long as the picture contains enough resolution to extract a high quality costume image.
Images should be cropped to exclude extraneous portions. If you are unable to do this, the curators can help. Images should also have a horizontal "horizon," but again, they can be rotated by the curators if necessary.
Files should be named with class and reunion numbers separated by periods, followed by the reunion's theme, substituting the underscore character for spaces (Example: 1967.10.Scots_on_the_Rocks). Should you wish to submit multiple pictures for any reunion, please add a version number to those specific images' filenames (Example: 1967.10.Scots_on_the_Rocks.v2, 1967.10.Scots_on_the_Rocks.v3). Of course, all file names will end with the the file type extension, such as 1967.10.Scots_on_the_Rocks.v2.jpg for a .jpeg file.
