Roland Park

At the time, Roland Park was a segregated community that, by deed restriction, admitted Black people only as servants in the homes of white people. Its developer, Edward H. Bouton, boasted that he also turned away Jewish families as “undesirable.” Racial restrictions such as Bouton’s were a feature of many developments of the day and served to cement the practice of redlining.
