The logo was based on the design for the Feigenspan’s “Pride of Newark” beer can and incorporates a football, recognizing the undefeated football season during senior year; good gym, fencing, and rifle teams; and the 38-7 defeat of the Yale, represented by the battered bulldog. Alastair B. Anderson, Bruce M. Ridgway, and Samuel Tyler conceived the logo.
