Halsted Observatory was Princeton's first building dedicated to astronomy. It was built through the efforts of Stephen Alexander, Professor of Astronomy, and stood on Alexander Place from 1869 to 1932.
Charles Augustus Young, known to students as "Twinkle," was the first Director of the Observatory.
