Recordings
The recording featured here is "Ode."
The musicians in The Quorum were the late Javier White '67 (drums), the late Cary Bair '68 (piano and composer of "Ode"), Larry Spadoro '70 (bass) and Bob Bernstein '70 (saxophone).
Larry Spadoro and Bob Bernstein met early in their freshman fall semester. Larry brought Javier White and Bob brought Cary Bair to the group through serendipitous encounters. By late in the fall '67 semester Quorum had their first gig. During the following three years Quoroum played gigs each semester. Quorum played at the Woodrow Wilson College a few times, at the Eating Clubs many times, at the University Chapel once, at some reunions events, at area colleges including in New Jersey, Westchester and NYC, and, of course, at Alexander Hall for the MLK Concert. According to Bob Bernstein "We even played once at a Monday Night showcase at the Village Gate in NYC which would have been intimidating but we gathered a friendly audience."
Javier returned to Princeton to continue to play with The Quorum for three years after his graduation while studying law in NYC at Columbia. Cary returned to Princeton to continue to play with The Quorum for two years after his graduation while studying in NYC at the Union Theological Seminary. Larry Spadoro and Bob Berstein played with the Quorum for all four years (1966-1970) of their time at Princeton.
