1955 Beer Jacket
Beer Jacket 1955 Rear
Chore coat in off-white cotton twill with stenciled decoration, hand coloring, and owner monogram.
This jacket was personalized by its original owner and shows how jackets from this era were often customized.
The handle of the mug forms a “P.” The Princeton shield holds a “55” instead of the “Dei Sub Numine Viget” inscription. The tigers wears a crown with “809” on it: the number of members of the class, Princeton’s largest to that point. The customized jacket has a baseball to symbolize the original owner’s time with the baseball team. “FWS” are his initials.
